I have a baby girl chimpanzee Ali Jo who was 2years old Feb 19, 2000.
Ali was born in Texas and I waited for her birth for one year. I visited
her parents Bertha and Tony before
she was even born. At the age of five weeks and 5 ponds she came to live
with me in Illinois. I have taken care of Ali as you would a baby, feeding
her Isomil baby formula every one hour and half around the clock in the
beginning. The truly amusing thing about Ali is the fact that she takes a
bath and will put on lotion and dry her hair with a blow dryer. I began
the process at the age of five weeks by putting her on a sponge and began
to teach her that the water was her friend not her enemy. Today she bathes
better than most human children. Ali visits people in nursing homes each
week providing many many smiles for the deserving men and women. Ali Jo
brings true happiness to everyone she meets. Ali has never been without
human companionship
Ali has her own room with a swing set , table and chair and TV and
many toys. She is a part of the family and even sleeps with me part of the
time. I feel Ali story should win because, she is the only chimp that does
animal assisted therapy for the elderly and developmentally challenged men
and women and children. Ali will begin to learn sign language this
coming year. I invite you to come visit Ali, and you too will be able to
say My Girl Ali.
