Ferrets are domestic animals, they are friendly and smart.  Their personality can be compared with something in between a dog and a cat.  You can train them to use the litter box and even teach them a few tricks. Their hearing and smelling is excellent but they can't see very well.  Not everybody likes them because of their scent smell and their urge to get into everything.  They like to dig into trash bags or dig holes in the dirt of your houseplants. Just like other pets they all have their own personality, some are very independent and others just love to be petted all the time.
