DOGS

"You think dogs will not be in Heaven? I tell you, they will be there long before any of us."
--Robert Louis Stevenson

What can we say about having a dog for a pet?  Fun-loving, playful, devoted, faithful...the list can go on and on.  Like all pets they have many personalities and when choosing your new companion look for the signs of a pet that you desire.  If your heart is set on a puppy, make sure that you have a lot of time on hand, because they take a lot of work.  Time goes towards house-breaking, obedience, and making it through the chewing and puppy stage.

If you would like a dog that is more laid-back, loyal and probably already trained,  go to your local shelter and select an older dog.  A dog that is over a couple years old has calmed down a bit, but still ready for fun, and is well worth bringing home to join your family.  These older pets are the ones that really need the homes and if given a chance they will fill that special spot.
